Old Man’s Rants

I’m tired of hearing the news media elevate the opinions of kids who have barely lived long enough to understand the history they’re commenting on.

Age does not automatically make one more intelligent, but it can provide something just as important: wisdom built through experience.

There is a difference between reading about an era and actually living through it. People who did not experience a particular time firsthand should be careful about judging it entirely through today’s standards and assumptions. History was lived by real people in a complicated world, not in the simplified version we often see presented decades later.

And despite what old photographs may suggest, the “old” world was not black and white. People actually wore color clothes, laughed, argued, worked, raised families, made mistakes, and believed they knew the world much better than their parents and grandparents.
